Over his 50-year career, Maurice Stein's makeup artistry has touched the faces of some of Hollywood’s brightest stars in thousands of films, TV shows, and commercials. When he retired from showbiz makeup in 1984 to found a small cosmetics and special effects supply in Burbank, Cinema Secrets became an instant hit among the entertainment industry--professional makeup artists, the studios, and many of “Hollywood's most expensive faces.”

The family-run business outgrew its location within three years and moved to its current building on Riverside Drive, which brought our trusted service even closer to the major studios.

In the early years, Maurice and “the boys,” Michael and Danny, spent many Saturday afternoons pouring their own latex appliances for the store. They re-introduced Woochie to the world in 1992 and opened the seasonal division, which now sells Cinema Secrets costumes and Woochie special effects makeup, kits, and appliances. Maurice also formulated his own line of cosmetics that would not only satisfy the entertainment industry, but also advance standards for clinical applications in the medical industry. Expanding on this tradition, Cinema Secrets provides educational services for makeup professionals.

Maurice and his family still play important roles in the company by maintaining an active presence in day-to-day operations. Now the grandchildren are on the horizon to continue the legacy.
